My practice is about exploring the self through spirituality and sexuality. Experiment with the idea that the closer I am to God the closer I am to myself. The erotic plays a huge role in every part of our life not just our sex lives. The closer we are to our erotic selves ( in tune with our truest feelings and desires) the closer we are to our true selves the closer we are to God. I create art that communicates the human need for connection and the avenues we take to reach it. Sexuality, race, spirituality, etc. are all methods to make connections; these are the topics I frequently explore in my work.  As a first-generation Haitian American, I often refer to Haitian symbolism as a way to communicate my relationship with Haiti. I have the experience of feeling like I exist on the edge of the world due to my identity. Taking risks in my practice feels like I’m either on the precipice to something great or maybe more or I’m throwing myself blindly off the edge into nothing. My only hope is that with every creation and every risk that takes me over the edge, I am caught by my art and those who resonate with it.
